Jamar Chess is a music entrepreneur, publisher and investor.
As co-founder of Sunflower Entertainment, Jamar has spent more than two decades building, administering and investing in music catalogs and copyrights. He also founded Wahoo Music Fund One to acquire music publishing and recorded music assets. A third-generation music executive, he brings the Chess Records legacy into his work as an operator, rights owner and investor.
Music
Through Sunflower Entertainment, I work with songwriters, artists and catalogs across publishing, licensing, royalty collection and catalog development. My family’s history at Chess Records informs that work, while my focus is on building the business today.
Investing
My experience operating a music rights business led naturally to acquiring and investing in catalogs. Through Wahoo Music Fund One, I acquired a 50% interest in the publishing and master rights of Oro Sólido.
Alpine
Outside music, I’m an avid skier and runner. I’ve completed the New York City and Chicago Marathons and share my enthusiasm for mountain travel through The Alpine Aficionado.
